Mr. Suleiman Barau

An accomplished Economist, Commercial, Merchant and Central Banker, Suleiman is a graduate of the School of Basic Studies (1978) and Department of Economics, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Nigeria (1981). Suleiman also received further education at the University of Jos Nigeria 1987 and University of Bradford England 1986 and 2009. Suleiman was, between 2007-2017, a two term Deputy Governor of the CBN before he retired in December 2017. Prior to that he was for over two years Special Adviser to the Governor of the CBN (2005-2007) during which he acted as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting (NSPM) Plc in 2007. Suleiman had also served on the NSPM Plc board for 10years from 2005 to 2015 and participated actively in its turnaround. Prior to joining CBN. Suleiman spent over 17 years working as a Merchant/Commercial Banker cutting across 4 major banks and prior to this worked with the Nigerian Mining Corporation where he resigned as a Principal Economist in 1988. Suleiman had been involved in far reaching reforms of the banking sector, payment system, monetary policy and internal capacity reforms of the CBN from 2005 to 2017. He was for over 11 years the Coordinator of the Financial System Strategy (FSS) 2020. He was a member of the CBN Board, Monetary Policy Committee and Financial Stability Committee from 2007 to 2017. He was also the Chairman of NIBSS. Suleiman had organized and participated in several local and international workshops and conferences, some as a keynote speaker. In January 2019, Suleiman was appointed by the President as a member of the Presidential Technical Advisory Committee (PTAD) on the Implementation of Minimum Wage. Suleiman had also received Executive Education from literally all the major global schools including Harvard Business and Kennedy (Alumnus), Stanford, Insead, IMD (Alumnus), Kellogg, Wharton Business Schools etc. He is currently the Chairman of the Government’s Family Homes Funds Nigeria Limited, Chairman Redstar Express Nigeria, a licensee of FedEx, among others.

Sabiu Mohammed is a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM), an associate of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (ACIB) and Senior Member of the Chattered Insurance Institute of Nigeria. He also holds a diploma in Insurance from AhmaduBello University, Zaria. Sabiuhas worked in the insurance space for over 2 decades. He has worked in various companies across various countries, including Nigeria, India and Saudi Arabia. He started his career with Ram boll India PvtLtd as a Design Engineer in Telecom & Power steel structures in 2006. He Move to the position of Technical Head in ZamilSteel industries, Saudi Arabia, Managing complete steel structural Engineering. Fabrication, Construction and supply. In 2017 he relocated from Saudi to Nigeria as a engineering Head to handling Telecom projects for major Telco Companies.
